The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding

by Agatha Christie

Crime | Classics | 363 Pages | Published by Harper in 2002

“Then once more his eyes returned to Northway House, relic of an earlier age – an age of space and leisure, when green fields had surrounded its well-bred arrogance. Now it was an anachronism, submerged and forgotten in the hectic sea of modern London, and not one man in fifty could have told you where it stood.”

~ p. 283, The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding by Agatha Christie

| Synopsis |

An English country house at Christmas time should be the perfect place to get away from it all – but nothing is ever simple for Hercule Poirot, as he finds not one but five baffling cases to solve.

First comes a sinister warning on his pillow to avoid the plum pudding… then the discovery of a corpse in a chest… next, an overheard quarrel that leads to murder… the strange case of a dead man’s eating habits.. and the puzzle of a victim who dreams of his own suicide.

And an extra bonus – Miss Marple investigates Greenshaw’s Folly.

Agatha Christie’s seasonal Poirot and Marple short story collection, reissued with a striking new cover designed to appeal to the latest generation of Agatha Christie fans and book lovers.

  1. I have been wanting to read more of her work for ages (I’ve only read And Then There Were None so far), and this sounds like a very interesting Christmas read! Great teaser.

  2. Don’t you just love this title – although, I don’t want my Christmas pudding to have an adventure – unless being cooked and eaten can be considered an adventure! I bought a Christie book recently but can’t remember which one – I will have to go and look for it.
    Great Christmas Teaser.

  3. Hi there and thanks for stopping by Fiction Books this week. I love meeting new people, so your visits and comments will always be valued and most welcome.

I love Agatha Christie books, although much of my reading of her, was done many years ago as a teenager and long before my blog ever came into being, so you won’t find many reviews there.

I have also never read a short story compilation by the author, so this is definitely one for my list – no matter what time of year! I can never really choose between her characters, although I always enjoyed watching Hercule Poirot on television, perhaps a little more than Miss Marple.

Thanks for sharing such good teasers and for the recommendation. Enjoy your Christmas 🙂

    1. Thank you! I always like to intersperse my ‘big reads’ with classics and Christie is always perfect for that.

And I too love watching them on television (very much looking forward to And Then There Were None on Boxing Day) and find it hard to choose a favourite! But at least this collection contains them both!

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas 😀
