A Gathering of Shadows
Book Two of the Shades of Magic Series
by V.E. Schwab
Fantasy | 513 Pages | Published by Titan Books in 2016
“Lila groaned and looked down at the coarse rope cinched tight around her hands, doubly grateful that the bastards had left her legs free, even if she was trapped in an abominable dress. A full-skirted, flimsy green contraption with too much gossamer and a waist so tight she could hardly breath and why in god’s name must women do this to themselves?“
~ p. 02, A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
| Synopsis |
Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.
In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.
But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

I love the sound of this one! The writing is definitely the style that grabs me… Are you enjoying it? The cover is rather snazzy, too! Here is my offering – it isn’t an easy read, but it is certainly engrossing and worth the effort. The world is fantastically depicted… https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/03/01/teaser-tuesday-1st-march-2016/

Visiting from Teaser Tuesday at Books and a Beat.
I caught your other post (FCFP). I guess they thought Lila would not be able to move around much in a dress. Silly, silly people!
Here’s my Teaser Tuesday.

Indeed! I would have thought putting her in a dress would be far too great a struggle to even attempt it! 😀

I can’t wait to get a copy of A Gathering Of Shadows! I have been wanting to read the first book for ages, but I decided to keep it on hold until I have a copy of this one so I can read both together. They sound like such great reads! 😀

I’m sure you’d love them both – the first was a brilliant read and this one seems to be just as good, if not better! I hope you enjoy them when you do get round to them! 😀
