Top Ten… Books When You’re in the Mood for Axe Wielding Maniacs
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is looking at a wondrous array of books for when you’re in the mood for… well just about anything really. So if you’re in the mood for some axe-wielding, blood-raging, battle-crying maniacs then look no further! Some of them may look nice, some of them may even be nice, but you sure as hell don’t want to be within arm’s reach of these bastards when all hell breaks loose. With more battle-axes, hand-axes and axe axes than you can shake a stick at, here is this week’s top ten:
1.
Black Dow
by Joe Abercrombie
2

5.
Perrin Aybara ( & a Moon-Bladed Hand Axe )
6.
Barkus Jeshua ( & Brenda)
Gothmog, Lord of the Balrogs
The Silmarillion & The History of Middle Earth
8.
Fitz

Haha – Jean Tannen – enough said!
Have you read Angus Watson – Age of Iron – Dug is a great axe wielding maniac.

No – that’s the one where I bought Reign of Iron without the rest of the series! Must pick up a copy as I need more mad axemen in my life 😀

Hell yes! 😀 I’m a little bit disturbed by my own obsession with Black Dow though… 😛

LOL. I laughed when I read your title. And then I knew I had to read your list. Great choices! How about Mark Lawrence’s Broken Empire? Jorg the little psychopath and all his road brothers would be right at home with all these gritty characters 😀

I’m not sure why I left Jorg and his merry band of psychos out! Poor Fitz is now lumped with some very disturbing company!

Since I am currently reading the Gentlemen Bastard sequence, when I saw the topic of this weeks list, Jean Tannen was the first character that came to mind. And Black Dow was so freaking awesome 🙂

When your axes are practically family you know you belong on this list!

Ha ha, what a title! I guess I don’t read about axe-wielding maniacs too often, since the only one of these I’ve read is A Game of Thrones.Still, if I’m ever in the mood, now I’ll know where to look!

Reblogged this on Brainfluff and commented:
Yes… I KNOW it’s Wednesday – but I couldn’t resist this offering. What Wednesday (Woden’s Day) would be complete without axe-wielding maniacs, preferably safely contained within a book?

This is a cool topic choice 😀 The only one from your list I know is Shagga! However I do have a copy of Assassin’s Apprentice which I really must get round to reading!

Oh I’m sure you’d love Assassin’s Apprentice! Hobb is such an amazing writer. Poor Fitz is in poor company though – he is much more honourable than the rest of this bunch (despite the whole assassin thing) 😀
