| Calamity by Brandon Sanderson |
I was lucky enough to win this beauty in a Goodreads Giveaway! So hurrah! One can never have enough Sanderson in their lives and this is his one series I’ve not started – very timely indeed. Plus it looks even better in real life than it did in the cover reveal! Needless to say, I cannot wait to get round to this trilogy!!
| Synopsis |
When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David’s fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy.
David knew Prof’s secret, and kept it even when the Reckoners’ leader struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He’s disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there’s no turning back…
But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics—Megan proved it. They’re not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.
I have a copy of the first book in the series, but I haven’t started it either! I’m loving that UK cover:-D

Sam Green: Amazing as usually. This is my favorite of all his Reckoner’s cover. I like how he decided to go with the turquoise blue, and use a lot of it, as opposite to only coloring being the aqua green for Sanderson’s name. Yeah, that blue is crazy good.

I just love Sam Green and love how the books all fit together so beautifully. Definitely have to start reading this series!

It’s a great series, but as DJ mentions above – you really, really need to start by reading STEELHEART. This gives you the vital background to the whole series. It’s got a very different feel to his fantasy, but as you’d imagine, is still very well written. I look forward to hearing from you how you get on with it:). Have a great Sunday!

Thank you! Of course I will start with the first – Sanderson is one of my favourite authors so they’ve been on my to read list for ever so long. Very glad that the third book will push me over the edge into reading them though! 😀

*blushes* Of course you will! I shouldn’t expect everyone else to leap in halfway through long-running series just because it’s a very bad habit of mine… Looking forward to hearing what you make of it:)

Hehe! The only one I’ve ever done it with is Dragon Hunters – because it can essentially be read as a standalone – it still felt very wrong though! Glad you love these books though, definitely makes me want to read them 😀

I love this trilogy! I was kind of weirded out by the ending, but it’s overall a great conclusion to the Reckoners series and may be an intro to something more too… Very pretty UK cover, by the way!

Can’t wait to get going with it! Although I MUST read Shadows of Self before anything. I hang my head in shame for all these books from my favourite authors still loitering on my shelves! Glad you love it though! 😀
