Top Ten… Bookish Resolutions for 2016

A new year, a new start and a whole heap of resolutions to keep me busy!! I’m still in the process of compiling some yearly goals… or even deciding what they’re going to be… but for now, and courtesy of Top Ten Tuesday, lets start with the obvious. Here are my Bookish Resolutions for 2016:

1.

Vanquish the Floorshelf!

With bookshelves which would be better described as floorshelves, my number one resolution for 2016 is to finish decorating! Floor to ceiling bookshelves shall adorn my walls and I will be able to walk in a straight line without fear of being buried under a pile of tumbling books. And think of the organisation potential! Speaking of said potential…

Organisation, Organisation, Organisation!

My second resolution is to organise both my books, my reading time and my blog! If I miss one weekend of scheduling my whole week goes to pot! And it’s a wonderful excuse to go shopping – just think of all the notebooks and diaries and planners. I’m sure it will make me…heart

3.

Just Post the Damn Thing!

I have a habit of getting caught up by new books and intending to get my reviews up as soon as possible… and then I lose track of time! And then there’s no time! So the timely posting of reviews is of utmost importance! (Take a sneak peak in my Top Secret Review Folder and you might just see around twenty almost finished reviews… tut tut tut!)With three resolutions already about organisation it’s clearly something I need to take control of.heart

To Fiction, or Not to Fiction, That is the Question?

Or is that Non-to-Fiction? I went from being fairly balanced when it came to reading fiction and non-fiction to almost completely one end of the spectrum during last year’s reading frenzy. So this year I will definitely be aiming to get back to some semblance of balance by reading at least one non-fiction book a month… and I might even write a review or two!heart

5.

To Jump on the Band Wagon – Or is that the Book Wagon?

I absolutely loved November’s Sci-Fi Month and the read along for The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. Such good fun! So this year I aim to join in with any that catch my eye. With the Rosemary and Rue and the Throne of Glass Read Alongs already on the agenda for January, and The 2016 Sci-Fi Experience and Vintage Sci-Fi Month well under way, it looks like I’ll have a lot to look forward to!heart

To Stop Getting Distracted by… Ooooooh! Shiny!

Yes, it’s going into my resolutions list too! I must, must, must finish reading a book before starting a new one! Having two books on the go at once is fine, maybe even three… but five?! No! Six?!?!? This year – nay! – This very month! I aim to finish all the books languishing on my currently reading pile… here’s hoping nobody notices I just added three more books to my currently reading pile…heart

Me, Me, Me, Me, Me!

I have attended some awesome literary events this year – book signings, lectures, festivals, archival outings – and I haven’t really written about any of them in great detail – or at all for the most part! So this year I would love to share some of these experiences with you because no doubt I’ll be attending many more in 2016!heart

8.

Read More or Buy Less!

And that includes requests! I am practically bursting at the seams with books that I still need to read and I keep adding to the pile, and then adding some more – I just can’t resist a bargainous book! The Backlist Burndown will definitely have to become a feature on this blog!heart

9.

Self-Published Snob? No Longer!

I’ve recently read some amazing self-published titles and I’m willing to bet it’s almost cured me of my fear of the quality of self-published works. Sure there will be some that are… erm… of a lesser quality than one would want but by god is it worth it when you find a good’un! This year I am determined to expand my reading repertoire of self-published novels!heart

Keep on Truckin’!

I’ve found overwhelming enjoyment in becoming a part of the book-o-blog-o-sphere in 2015, so in 2016 I’m promising myself to continue as I have started (albeit in a more fabulous and far more organised manner); to read and post to my hearts content, and to continue to find amazing new books and authors through awesome bloggers!heart
